Arabic language learning is highly rewarding in that it allows students to build greater speaking and vocabulary skills. It is also essential for understanding the Holy Qur’an.
Students attending Al-Amal Academy are provided with the opportunity to learn Arabic as a Foreign Language from preschool to grade 8.
The Curriculum for our Arabic Language Program is presented predominantly in Arabic with English being used interchangeably when needed for further understanding. The Specific Learning Outcomes for Arabic in each grade reflect knowledge, skills and attitudes that students are expected to achieve by the end of each grade depending upon their individualized level. Ultimately the Arabic Language Learning of students focuses on meaningful learning activities that are best structured around topics that are engaging and relevant to the students.
The Al-Amal Academy Islamic School believes in connecting our pupils to the most profound text, which formulates the basis of our religion – The Quran.
We begin with our KG to Grade 4 students who learn how to read and recite the Quran with proper tajweed. They are also introduced to the memorization of many surahs of the Quran with the ultimate aim of memorizing Juz Amma by the end of grade 4. To accomplish this students are placed in smaller groups, and continue their memorization that is individualized and at their pace.
Starting from grade 5, the Quran program changes to a Quranic Arabic program made popular by Nouman Ali Khan’s Bayyinah Institute. GetQuranic.com is our main partner in ensuring that as our students get further into their Quranic Studies they approach the Quran with a greater understanding. The simple aim is to enable each student to open the Quran, turn to any surah and read with complete understanding in the original Arabic.
